Drone airstrike on Russian targets
Last night, Russian authorities reported a massive drone attack targeting several areas of the Russian Federation while President Vladimir Putin was on an official trip to a region close to the Ukrainian border. Anti-aircraft systems were activated in several places, and the detection of unmanned aircraft led to disruptions in civilian air traffic.
More regions — more interceptions
The Russian Defense Ministry announced that numerous drones were identified and neutralized, some of which were aimed at different regions, some close to the border with Ukraine, others located deeper into Russian territory. According to official statements, air defense forces intervened to prevent them from reaching sensitive targets.
Such incidents have become increasingly frequent in recent times, and Russian authorities say they are able to intercept most devices before they cause major damage. Airports temporarily closed and increased security measures
Following the aerial threats, several airports have temporarily suspended landings and takeoffs to reduce the risk of incidents to civilian aircraft. The decisions were taken as a preventive measure, especially in regions close to the conflict zone.
During the presidential visit, the institutions responsible for protecting the delegation were additionally mobilized. Internal sources in the Russian administration mentioned that the alert level was high, even though the official agenda did not undergo significant public changes. Security measures included intensified aerial surveillance and additional patrols around sensitive targets.
The use of drones in this conflict is evolving rapidly: both sides have invested considerable resources in attack and reconnaissance capabilities, which has transformed these devices into an increasingly relevant weapon on the battlefield. Military experts note that the devices’ ability to penetrate enemy airspace and their autonomy allow strikes at considerable distances from the front line.
