A man who destroyed Donald Trump’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star was unexpectedly bailed out by the very person who had destroyed the same star before him.
wood Walk of Fame is one of the most recognizable tourist attractions in Los Angeles, filled with the names of actors, musicians, television personalities and other entertainment figures whose careers have left a lasting mark on popular culture.
But one particular star became famous for an entirely different reason.
Donald Trump’s star was not simply celebrated, photographed and walked over by tourists. It became the target of repeated acts of vandalism, turning a small section of Hollywood Boulevard into the setting for one of the strangest episodes in the Walk of Fame’s history.
In July 2018, 24-year-old Austin Clay approached Trump’s star carrying a pickaxe. He proceeded to damage the star, causing significant destruction before surrendering to police.
Clay was arrested and faced criminal charges, with bail reportedly set at $20,000.
Under ordinary circumstances, that might have been the end of the story.
But then something unexpected happened.
