If the shower is slowly starting to
cause a problem, it’s just a small dark spot in the corner of the silicone joints. Then another one is added. And before you know it, there are stubborn black mold spots in a clean bathroom that seem impossible to remove – no matter how hard you scrub yourself.
This is especially frustrating because mold on silicone is one of the most stubborn stains in the bathroom. Ordinary soap doesn’t help much, scrubbing takes a lot of time, and stains often appear even darker afterwards.
Fortunately, there is a simple and inexpensive method that can effectively solve the mold problem.
One
of the most popular home remedies for mold on silicone shower is three daily ingredients:
• White vinegar
• Warm water
• Baking soda
These three ingredients are known for their natural cleansing and odor-neutralizing properties.
How to prepare the mixture
Mix the ingredients in the following ratio:
• 1/4 part warm water
• 3/4 white vinegar
• 2 tablespoons baking soda
Pour everything into a spray bottle and shake the mixture well.
It may foam slightly at first – this is completely normal and is caused by the reaction of vinegar and baking soda.
How to use this mixture
When the solution is ready, do the following:
Spray or pour the mixture directly onto silicone joints full of mold. Make sure all stains are completely covered so that the solution can work well.
Then I leave it for about 30 minutes. This time is important so that the mold deposits can dissolve.
Then gently scrub the silicone joints with an old toothbrush or a small cleaning brush. Focus especially on darker areas.
Then rinse the surface with warm water and dry thoroughly with a clean cloth.
Drying is crucial because moisture promotes mold re-formation.
Why this method works
Each component fulfills a specific task:
• Vinegar helps loosen mold and disinfect surfaces.
• Baking soda has a mild abrasive effect and helps remove stains.
• Warm water ensures better mixture distribution and actionability.
