A new violent incident is shaking the command structures of the Russian military. A senior military official in the Moscow Defense Ministry is believed to have lost his life in a powerful explosion that occurred Tuesday morning in a suburb of the Russian capital.
The explosion took place in the city of Balashikha, located approximately 10 kilometers from Moscow, at around 05:30. According to preliminary information, the explosion occurred when a BMW X3 car was driving through a residential area in the Aviatorov district.
Russian authorities confirmed the death of one person and announced the opening of a criminal investigation, but avoided making public the identity of the victim or providing details about the possible motives for the attack.
