What If the Bug Is Gone?
Don’t panic.
You can still inspect the hair.
Look for additional insects or attached eggs.
Pay attention to persistent itching or irritation.
If nothing else is found, continue observing.
A single unidentified insect doesn’t automatically establish an infestation.
The Bigger Lesson
The phrase “bug in my friend’s hair” sounds alarming because we instinctively associate insects with infestation.
But biology is more complicated than that.
Some insects are specialized human parasites.
Others are environmental visitors.
Some crawl.
Some jump.
Some attach themselves to skin.
Some simply get caught in hair by accident.
The important thing is to distinguish between them.
