“The increase in the total number of drownings between June 1 and August 13, 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, affected children aged 6-12 and adults. For drownings resulting in death, 37 children and adolescents died in 2025 compared to 28 in 2024. Among children and adolescents, 16 drownings resulting in death in waterways (43% of all locations) were recorded in 2025 compared to 6 in 2024 over the same period ,” the report also indicates.
