A life devoted to music and family
Born June 22, 1949, in Ogden, Utah, Alan was one of the eight Osmond siblings and the oldest of the brothers who performed professionally.
His musical journey began when he and brothers Wayne, Merrill and Jay formed a barbershop quartet in the 1950s. Their talent eventually brought the family to national television, including appearances on The Andy Williams Show, helping launch the Osmonds toward international fame.
The group went on to become a major pop phenomenon during the 1970s, producing hits including “One Bad Apple” and “Crazy Horses.”
Alan wasn’t simply a performer. He also worked as a songwriter, producer and musical leader behind the scenes. He helped write some of the family’s best-known songs and produced The Donny & Marie Show.
