A decades-long battle with multiple sclerosis
Alan’s life took a different direction after he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1987.
The disease eventually forced him to step away from performing, but his involvement in music and his commitment to his family and charitable work continued.
In the final period of his life, Alan used a wheelchair and had recently spent time in intensive care before returning home under hospice care.
Despite the challenges, those close to him remembered him for his faith, optimism and dedication to his family.

News of Alan’s death brought emotional tributes from his siblings.
His brother Donny Osmond shared a photograph of the two of them when they were young, remembering Alan as a protective older brother.
The photograph carried particular meaning because it reflected the role Alan played throughout Donny’s childhood—watching over his younger sibling while the family navigated the extraordinary demands of life in show business.
