NC Couple Shot Dead in Their Sleep Over $75K Inheritance
Carla Janon Murray, 39, and her husband Raheim McClain Murray, 31, were shot while they slept inside their Burke County home. According to search warrants, the woman who stayed the night unlocked the back door so her partner could walk in and kill them.
Then the pair used the victims’ faces — after they were already dead — to unlock their phones, drained $19,000 from Carla’s Cash App, cleaned up the crime scene, dumped the bodies near a public nature trail, and moved into the dead couple’s house with their own children.
On July 25, Jamar Quarmaine Propst, 36, and Tosha Lee Lewis, 36, were arrested and each charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of felony conspiracy. Both are being held without bond.
